At the Charlottesville dental office of Blue Ridge Family Dentistry, we use state-of-the-art dental equipment and technology to ensure your visits are as precise, smooth and gentle as possible. We use the latest GALILEOS 3D X-Ray imaging device by Sirona. This X-Ray allows Dr. Almzayyen and his team to see and assess problems that would often go un-diagnosed with standard 2D technology. Using this machine, Dr. Almzayyen can plan dental implants in 3 dimensions. This technology is a great asset in the use of CEREC one-visit dental crowns.
Using 3D X-rays for Dental Implants
3D X-Rays are far superior to standard 2D X-Ray imaging. As we mentioned above, the GALILEOS 3D X-Ray imaging can be used in the planning and implementation process of dental implants. The technology allows for extreme accuracy and meticulous treatment planning. Dr. Almzayyen is able to virtually plan out the implant process in 3 dimensions on the computer, before ever performing the procedure in the patient's mouth! This not only reduces the number of surprises that could be encountered during the surgical process but also eliminates the need for exploratory surgery.
3D X-Rays may not be necessary for all dental procedures and each patient will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
Intraoral Scanner - No Mess Impressions
Tired of a goopy mess whenever the dentist says they need to take impressions of your teeth? We were too! We use the Primescan intraoral scanner by Dentsply Sirona (currently the latest and most accurate scanner on the market) that allows us to take impressions of your teeth without the mess. All patients, not just those with a bad gag reflux, have been delighted by this technology.
The advanced technology of intraoral scanners allow the doctor to see full images of a single tooth or your entire mouth on a monitor. The images created with an intraoral scanner are able to not only help the doctor but also boost awareness to the patient of what is going on inside their mouth.
Implant Stability with Osstell IDx
The Osstell IDx allows Dr. Almzayyen to check the stability of dental implants without jeopardizing the healing process. This accurate, consistent, non-invasive technology allows for a reduction in treatment time, improved outcomes and better communication between doctor and patient. Dental implants are life changing for patients and our team at Blue Ridge Family Dentistry wants to ensure your implant process goes as smoothly and accurately as possible.
Dr. Almzayyen uses CEREC technology to create high-quality porcelain dental crowns during a single visit to his Charlottesville dental office. CEREC uses CAD/CAM digital technology to design and mill custom crowns for immediate placement.
The process will begin with digital impressions that will be used to make a custom fit and color matched dental crown. These digital impressions allow for a high degree of accuracy and control over the entire process, resulting in a custom dental crown that will last for many years with proper dental care.
After the CEREC machine mills your ceramic crown, Dr. Almzayyen will permanently secure it to the tooth and make any necessary adjustments for a snug and comfortable fit. See our dental crowns page for more information.
No more having to stand in a dark room waiting for your X-ray film to develop. Blue Ridge Family Dentistry uses DEXIS digital X-ray which allows our X-ray to be sent to a computer where it can be immediately viewed. Digital X-rays have become far superior to traditional methods and are an exceptional tool in helping patients fully understand their treatment options.
